Navegantes


Navegantes inherited the tradition of finishing and shipbuilding from its Azorean colonizers. It is the third largest center for capturing and processing fish in Latin American, exporting worldwide, besides possesses in the Navegantes Port Terminal, one of the most modern in the country. Shipbuilding is prominent in the industrial sector, being the largest shipyard in the country (construction for deep-sea fishing), yachts and whaleboats made from wood. The Victor Konder International Airport is the second biggest in the State. In tourism, the city has been developing owing to the natural beauty of its 12 km of beaches, divided between Praia Central, Meia Praia and Gravatá. It possesses preserved sandbanks and dunes along practically its whole extent.
